Suspended jail for Hordle shoplifter Kerry Phillips with ‘flagrant disregard for court orders’

STEALING hundreds of pounds of goods landed a Hordle shoplifter with a suspended prison sentence.

Kerry Phillips (34), of Sidney Street, pleaded guilty to taking food and drink worth about £100 from Tesco in New Milton on 21st August 2023, as well as £92.45 of food and alcohol from the town’s Morrisons on 6th August.

She also admitted having stolen multiple groceries valued at £116.15 from Tesco Express in Highcliffe on 13th June 2023.

Southampton magistrates ruled only a custodial sentence was justified due to Phillips having a “flagrant disregard for court orders”.

She was handed a five-month term, suspended for 12 months with a supervision requirement.

Phillips must undergo rehabilitation activity, and the Bench ordered she pay £100 compensation and another £85 in prosecution costs.
