Met Office issues yellow weather warning for heavy showers and thunder to hit New Forest and Christchurch

A YELLOW weather warning has been issued for heavy showers and thunder tomorrow (Wednesday) night into Thursday morning.

The Met Office said spray and sudden flooding could lead to difficult driving conditions and some road closures throughout the area.

There could also be disruption to rail and bus services where flooding or lightning strikes happen, as well as power cuts.

The warning covers a large area of the south

A spokesperson for the Met Office said: “Whilst there is some uncertainty, and not all areas will be affected, scattered heavy showers on Wednesday evening may merge into longer spells of heavy, showery rain in places through Wednesday night into Thursday morning.

“Where heavy downpours occur, perhaps thundery in places, accumulations of 20-40mm are possible in an hour or two.”
