Staff at Hays Travel in New Milton hoping to raise £700 for Scarf with 10k walk

COLLEAGUES at a New Milton travel agent are donning their walking boots as they train for a 10k event in aid of a children’s charity.

Hays Travel staff will embark on the walk from Highcliffe to Boscombe pier on 29th September. They hope to raise £700 for Scarf, which supports children and young people up to the age of 25 with a range of disabilities and additional needs, such as Down's Syndrome, autism and cerebral palsy.

It provides regular term time clubs and activity sessions, such as kayaking and craft-making, in an inclusive and welcoming environment. The charity also connects families with each other, which helps to form friendships and further support networks.

Branch manager Sarah Bamber said: “We chose to fundraise for Scarf because each of us in the branch knows someone or has someone in our families with a disability, so it is a cause that is collectively close to our hearts.

“The walk will be a challenge for us, but we are motivated and excited to do our bit and help a charity that makes such a difference to young people and their families.”

Retail director Jane Schumm added: “At Hays Travel we are committed to supporting the wellbeing, learning and development of young people from all walks of life.

“Scarf’s mission to provide young people with opportunities to flourish is fantastic and we are very proud of our New Milton colleagues for supporting this cause.”
