Totton and Eling Town Council forced to close splash park at Hanger Farm in Aikman Lane due to vandalism

VANDALS have forced the closure of a popular paddling pool in Totton.

The facility at Hanger Farm in Aikman Lane was shut by Totton and Eling Town Council, which runs the pool, after damage was caused overnight between Friday 19th and Saturday 20th July.

The council’s clerk and CEO, Susan Cutler, told the A&T: “We are awaiting an inspection from the contractor who carried out the refurbishment at Hanger Farm pool last year, so at this present time we are unable to ascertain what cost repairs will be applicable to the council and how long these repairs will take.

“Once the inspection is completed, we will obviously know more in relation to the damaged surface.”

Susan confirmed the council had reopened the newly refurbished splash park at Eling recreation ground, and pool at Testwood recreation ground yesterday (Wednesday).

On the damage, Cllr David Harrison said: “I sometimes despair. As a council we constantly strive to provide things that residents value but whether it is trees that have been planted, notice boards, play equipment or paddling pools, it all gets targeted by these mindless individuals.”
