Ex-Green Beret Farard Darver launches CBD firm Healthcare International Research

A FORMER Green Beret from Lymington is now fighting on the frontline for his cannabis oil products.

Farard Darver retired after more than 16 years in the army to properly launch his business Healthcare International Research (HIR) which makes and sells cosmetics and health products using cannabidiol (CBD).

CBD is a non-intoxicating compound found in the cannabis plant which is legal to buy in the UK provided it meets certain standards. Many believe it has a range of therapeutic benefits.

Farard's company has two brands, Hempe and MotherSage, and products ranging from balms and body butter to muscle gels and a "slimming gel".

The 42-year-old launched HIR while still in the army but after working on it "morning, nights, and weekends", decided to go for broke.

"It got to the stage where I had to decide to either back myself and go for it or drop it. I love a challenge, so it was an obvious choice," he said.

Since retiring, Farard has secured a place at Europe’s biggest beauty show, Professional Beauty, in the Excel in London, as well as the Arnold Schwarzenegger Sports Festival in the NEC. Both are due to be held in October.

MotherSage's Anti-Cellulite & Slimming Gel has also been nominated for Product of the Year at the 2021 Heropreneurs Awards, a show which recognises the business achievements of military personnel.

Farard said he is hopes his company will become "the authoritative voice on the use of CBD in cosmetic and lifestyle applications".

"We manufacture and sell CBD cosmetic and health products that have been formulated by the world’s leading scientific based cannabinoid research company based in the Czech Republic.

"The Czechs were the first scientists to discover CBD, one of many cannabinoids found in the hemp plant, in 1955. They have harnessed 65 years of research that has been conducted and have a wealth of clinical and scientific data on the formulation of cosmetic CBD and health products."

While HIR currently sells online and in Scoltocks Health Foods, which has branches in New Milton and Ringwood, Farard is looking to expand internationally.

"I am trying to grow into other shops. We have sales in Ireland, Spain and will soon be expanding into other EU countries as we have a European distribution centre established in Austria which services any European orders.

"I am currently in talks with three different distributors spanning from Mexico to South Africa."
