Drink-drive arrest after crash between car and bus on the A31 near Ringwood





A MOTORIST was arrested after a crash between a car and a bus which partially blocked a stretch of the A31 near Ringwood.

The incident involving a Vauxhall Crossland X and the bus took place westbound on Southampton Road, near the junction with Poulner Hill, around 3.15pm on Wednesday.

The car driver, a 59-year-old Ringwood man, suffered what were described by police as minor injuries.

Arrested by officers on suspicion of drink-driving, he was later released under investigation as enquiries continued.

One lane of the carriageway was closed for nearly two hours as emergency crews worked at the scene and the car was recovered.

At one point, about five miles of congestion was reported on the approach, with up to 50 minutes of delays.
