Disney’s Aladdin, Mayflower Theatre, Southampton

WEST End and Broadway hit show Disney’s Aladdin will fly into Southampton’s Mayflower Theatre next week.

Under the direction of Andrew Flatt, Anne Quart and Thomas Schumacher, the critically acclaimed musical will open for a three-and-a-half-week run on Thursday 5th September, continuing until Sunday 29th September.

The UK tour stars Yeukayi Ushe as Genie and Gavin Adams as Aladdin. A recent graduate of the Royal Academy of Music, Gavin makes his professional debut in the title role. Alongside him, fellow graduate of the Royal Academy of Music, Desmonda Cathabel plays Jasmine.

Gavin said: “I’m going through every emotion under the sun. I’m so excited but also very nervous at the same time because it is such a big, iconic role to undertake. I’m so blessed to have this opportunity.”

Adapted from Disney’s 1992 animated film and centuries-old folk tales including One Thousand and One Nights, the smash-hit musical will be brought to theatrical life in a unique and dazzling way.

The show continues its record-breaking run on Broadway at the New Amsterdam Theatre, and since opening there in March 2014, nine subsequent productions have launched around the world, including over 1,200 performances at the Prince Edward Theatre in London’s West End.
