HYTHE & Dibden picked up their first Wessex Premier league win at the 23rd attempt in stunning style, demolishing Amesbury Town by eight goals.
The bottom two sides in the league met for a relegation six-pointer. However, there was only one side in it, with new signing Sam Woodward notching four goals, Filippos Terzidis claiming a brace, and Liam Goulding and Cain Prentice adding the extras.
The two sides battled the opening exchanges in a cagey manner, with the opening goal not coming until the 30th minute when Woodward found Terzidis on the left-hand side for the attacker to bend the ball around the keeper.
Woodward then smashed in a jaw-dropping effort from 30 yards out before Amesbury lost their central defender after a horrific challenge on Terzidis.
After the break, a great cross from Golding found Woodward at the back post for the former Portsmouth Academy player to tap home.
Golding then made it four with an excellent low finish across the keeper before Amesbury were reduced to nine men after the right-back got into an altercation with the referee.
With the wind in their sails, Hythe continued to lay siege to the hosts' goalmouth, with Prentice tucking home a loose ball after Terzidis struck the post.
Terzidis went one better with his next effort, scoring a sublime goal before Woodward completed his hat-trick.
The scoring was complete in the 85th minute when Woodward nodded in a rare header to draw Hythe level on points with Amesbury.
