Wessex League football: Blackfield & Langley soundly beaten by Moneyfields
Wessex League Premier
Blackfield & Langley 0
Moneyfields 3
THE Watersiders were left with no change after a comprehensive defeat by the Moneys.
The home side never got going, and could have found themselves down by a couple after 23 minutes as Ryan Pennery tortured the Blackfield defence with a couple of driving runs, sandwiched by an overhit cross from Blackfield's Junior Kamara.
As it was, Harry Sargeant opened the scoring for Moneyfields on 35 minutes after fine holdup play by Steve Hutchings.
Hutchings played a key role in their second, dummying a pass from Cornwall, with Pennery on hand to make it 2-0 after 43 minutes.
It was more of the same in the second 45, with Blackfield keeper George Sansom keeping out efforts from Moneys' Lee and Hutchings. The latter then had the ball in the Blackfield net, with the offside flag coming to the Watersiders' rescue.
Blackfield's first decent chance came in the 68th minute as Sam Woodward's cross-goal shot drew a fine save from Moneyfields keeper Kramer.
Charlie Rattley then popped a good effort wide for Blackfield before Pennery fluffed his chance for a second, putting his shot past the post.
Moneyfields' Birmingham tried his best to gift Blackfield a goal with shoddy back-pass but Williams couldn't get his shot on target.
The away side were in no mood to lie down, and Declan Seiden should have made it three after a collecting a flick from Hutchings and slamming it wide.
Pennery finally grabbed his brace in the 84th minute, prodding in a corner chipped over by Birmingham.
Blackfield & Langley are in action tonight (Tuesday) against Hythe & Dibden before hosting Laverstock & Ford on Saturday.
