Milford's Ellie to play second professional event

Milford golfer Ellie Mans has received an invitation to play in the Rose Ladies Series at Wentworth from Justin and Kate Rose.

The event will be the 17-year-old’s second professional event as an amateur after placing T14, gross 75, at Brokenhurst Manor a year to the day that the Wentworth competition will occur.

Like last year, England South Boys manager Kevin Flynn will again be on her bag.

The Wentworth field comprises 89 professional players, including Annabel Dimmock, Dame Laura Davies, Liz Young, Hayley Davis and Thalia Kirby.

Due to upcoming A-level exams and government-imposed mocks in case exams do not go ahead, Mans’ clubs had been confined to the locker room since November until she played last weekend.

As Dorset captain, she played in the Peter Alliss Trophy at Ferndown GC last weekend.

Despite giving four, 15 and eight shots to her opponents in each matchplay round, she lifted the trophy for the first time in her final year of girls golf.

Mans plays her golf at Brokenhurst Manor and Barton-on-Sea golf clubs and has been an active member of the SW England squad for three years.

The third round of the 2023 Rose Ladies Series will take place at Wentworth Golf Club on 20th April.
