Arnewood School pupil Finn Tibbert-Wykvliet earns dream Great Britain call-up ahead of U19 Floorball World Cup Qualifiers

NEW Forest teenager Finn Tibbert-Wykvliet has been selected to represent Great Britain in the U19 Floorball World Cup Qualifiers at the end of January.

The Year 11 Arnewood School pupil lives in Everton and has been playing floorball since he was seven years old.

“It has always been my ambition to represent my country,” he said.

“Floorball is best described as a combination of ice and field hockey.

“It pits two teams of six against each other in a fast-paced match played over three 20-minute periods.”

The qualifiers take place in Latisana, Italy.

Finn continued: “Floorball in Great Britain is still a very small sport, and very few people have even heard of it, which means that we don’t receive any funding from any sporting governing body.

“Therefore, each team member must cover their travel, accommodation and training expenses for the event. To help finance my journey to the World Cup, I have set up a crowdfunding page, and any donations to help me get there would be gratefully received.”

The expected cost of competing is around £1,500, and existing donations are currently just over £300. Any amount over the target amount will be redirected to help other teammates.
