Match report: Sway CC (102-2) cruise to dominant Southern Cricket Premier League (SPCL) Twenty 20 (West) victory over neighbours Fawley CC 99 after SPCL Division Two wash-out against Calmore Sports

Following their Saturday washout at Calmore, Sway saved their weekend with an eight-wicket T20 home win over Fawley on Sunday, their third victory over the Oilers this season.

An understrength Fawley were dismissed for a modest 99 with an over to spare. Hampshire U17 Seth Pickering (2-17) dislodged the stumps of opener Chris Tona (14) and number three Loyd Coxall (0), after which followed a steady procession.

Sway opener Matt Young made the task look comparatively straightforward with an undefeated 34. A confident Will Crossley and Australian Harradine assisted with 23 and 25, respectively, and the issue was settled in the 15th over.

On Saturday, fourth-placed Sway were scheduled to take on third-placed Calmore Sports, but heavy rain forced the match to be abandoned midway through the contest.

On a day that captains were desperate to win the toss, Calmore’s Matty Taylor was the happier of the two, and he wasted no time asking visitors Sway to bat first on a damp wicket that suited the bowlers.

Sway were sitting at 91-6 by the time the rain finally ended the contest, with captain Steadman (14), Alex Hall (14), Crossley (13), and Harradine (10) the highest scorers.

Brad Jewer (2-24) and Liam O’Connor (2-13) were Calmore’s most successful bowlers, while Ben Perry (1-9) and Joe Butcher (1-19) took one apiece before the umpire called an end to the match.

Sway entertains New Milton at Jubilee Fields at 12.30pm.
