AFC TOTTON breathed new life into their promotion hunt with a comfortable 4-0 win against Cinderford Town with their rivals' results going in their favour.

Thanks to goals from Ben Jefford, Jack Hoey, Jordan Ragguette and Shaquille Gwengwe, the Stags now sit six points off the summit with two games in hand over first-placed Cirencester Town.

The Foresters started the match the better side, but the hosts looked dangerous on the counter-attack, with Hisham Kasimu going close several times.

With 17 minutes played, Freddie Read played a superb ball into Ade Olumuyiwa, whose firm header spun high into the air, where captain Jefford showed tremendous bravery to nod into the net.

After the hosts spurned several chances to double their advantage, Hoey calmed the nerves with a majestically struck effort which curled into the bottom corner from the edge of the area for AFC Totton's 100th goal of the season.

After the hour mark, Saint Vincent and the Grenadines international Ragguette marked one of his best performances with a well-taken goal on the counter to make it 3-0 to the home side.

It was a successful league debut for former Man City and Southampton player Pascal Kpohomouh, who marshalled the defence well with partner Olumuyiwa.

With 10 minutes left, Shaq Gwengwe completed the comfortable win with a composed finish after unselfish play from Freddy Read found Gwengwe unmarked in the area.
