AFC Totton make huge promotion statement with win over Frome Town

AFC TOTTON forced their way back into the title picture with a 2-0 away victory over promotion rivals Frome Town at the Badgers Hill Stadium.
The win, which came thanks to goals from captain Harry Medway and top-scorer Hisham Kasimu, moves third-placed Stags to within two points of the Robins.
The Stags came into the match understandably full of confidence after already defeating the Robins on two other occasions this season.
Manager Dan Sackman shuffled his pack after introducing a new signing and former Lymington Town player Nathan Hurst to the line-up in a holding midfield role.
The visitors started the brighter, the referee playing a brilliant advantage when Adam Tomasso went down under a challenge. Hurst's quick first-time pass allowed Sam Griffin and Shaq Gwengwe to get into a threatening position, but Frome keeper James Carey reacted well.
The opening goal came after sustained pressure and several corner kicks. Ethan Taylor's delivery hung invitingly for Pascal Kpohomouh and player-of-the-match Medway, with the latter getting the decisive touch in a towering header at the near post.
Right-winger Jonathan Davies was a constant threat for the Robins, but the Stags' defence held firm and the half finished 1-0.
The hosts started well and managed to force Stags keeper Lewis Noice into a smart save from Davies before Taylor hit the bar for the visitors.
With 70 minutes played, an unnecessary push sent Griffin to the ground right under the nose of the referee, who had no hesitation in pointing to the spot. Prolific Kasimu smashed the ball high into the top corner.
Both sides had further chances, but the match remained at 2-0 as Totton held on for all three points to complete the league double over Frome and stay in touch with the Robins and league leaders Cirencester Town.
