Speedy teenage go-karter Ollie Bailey zooms into first place

HORDLE go-kart racer Ollie Bailey stood atop the UK National Kart Cup (NKC) British Championships podium after an excellent final race.

The Arnewood School pupil started the final race at the Clay Pigeon Raceway third on the grid before fighting back from fifth to win.

The 16-year-old dropped back to fifth after getting hit at turn one, and then had a great battle with the leading pack of five.

After squeezing into third, with two laps to go, he gained the lead before defending it for the last two laps to take the victory.

The UK National Kart Cup (NKC) British Championships is a series where the best 90 drivers from across the country race over six weekends on six of the top karting tracks in the country.

To make the final, Ollie finished third in qualifying, the first heat and the pre-final.

The day also saw Ollie collect a trophy for finishing third in the winter series despite missing a round of racing.

Ollie is sponsored by DMS Systems, JR Autocare, YESSS Electrical, YESSS POWER, Top Level Scaffolding, Marquer Mobile Maintenance, Aspect Building & Carpentry Ltd, Ford Roofing Ltd, LSB Renewable Energy, LSB Electrical, Plumbing & Heating, Proteus Waterproofing, Super Brothers Arms Tapas Cocktail Wine Bar, The Super Brothers Catering, GB HVAC LTD, Michael Goss Architecture and @top fans.

Go-karting is expensive, and the Bailey family actively seeks sponsors for the season to support Ollie in completing the whole NKC series this year.
