Penalty save puts Blackfield & Langley into next round of FA Cup after win over Porchester

FA Cup Preliminary Round

Portchester 1
Blackfield & Langley 3

A PENALTY save from Blackfield & Langley goalkeeper Amadeusz Skrzyniarz helped his side win their FA Cup Preliminary Round replay against Portchester last night (Tuesday).

The visitors were 2-1 up in the second half when a Blackfield player was adjudged to have handled Sam Pearce’s header 10 minutes into the second half.

However, prolific Portchester striker Kieran Roberts – who had already scored a penalty for the hosts in the first half – saw Skrzyniarz save low to his right.

The save kept the lead the visitors had held going into the break, which Blackfield secured with two goals in four minutes.

First Harvey-Joe Bertrand – younger brother of Leicester fullback Ryan – headed home Fawzi Saadi’s whipped cross from close range before Saadi got in on the act when he reacted quickest in the box to a parried shot.

Blackfield's third came in the second half – a screamer from Ali Zintany – whose shot went in off the underside of the crossbar.

Having dumped their Wessex League rivals out of the FA Cup, Blackfield now host two-divisions-higher Wimborne Town in the first qualifying round on Saturday 4th September.
