New Forest Golf Club’s Dave Jones and Robin Swanston pull away on the final holes to win the Mick Wheeler Winter League trophy

The remaining two pairs of New Forest Golf Club seniors embarked on the final round of the Mick Wheeler Winter League, a four-ball better ball competition that began in November last year.

At that time, eighteen pairs played in three divisions to decide who would go through to the quarter-finals. These matches were completed in record time, with the quarter and semi-finals held before the end of March.

This left Steve Duckett and Steve Waterman facing Dave Jones and Robin Swanston in the final. The close-fought match was all square going down the 17th fairway when Jones and Swanston pulled out all the stops, taking those last two holes to win the Winter League trophy.
