New Forest Golf Club holds annual Sages, Onion and Stuffing contest
Glowing sunshine warmed the course as 41 New Forest Golf Club Seniors embarked on the annual Sages, Onion and Stuffing competition for a trio of trophies.
Held as a Stableford competition, the Sages Trophy is for those aged 70-79, the Onion Cup is for those under 70, and the Stuffing Plaque is for members aged 80 and above.
Countback calculations were required to determine that Alan Milburn won the Sages Trophy with 34 points. Ian Coundon, also with 34 points, won the Onion Cup, while Mike Wharton stormed ahead to win the Stuffing Plaque with a magnificent 37 points.
Robin Swanston won the nearest to the pin challenge on the second hole.

In glorious sunshine, this year’s spring event between New Forest Golf Club Seniors and Ladies sections took the form of mixed foursomes played off the red tees.
The nine pairs competing had a great time, with the husband-and-wife team of Loraine and Roy Nelson winning with a highly credible nett 68, one ahead of Dave Jones and Ann Spurrett.
