Milford siblings Patrick and Kate Atkinson take silvers at Hampshire Cross Country Championships

MILFORD brother-and-sister duo Patrick and Kate Atkinson came away with silver medals at the recent Hampshire Cross Country Championships.

The Priestlands duo, who train with the New Forest Runners, took on an extremely wet and muddy course at Fairthorne Manor.

Kate was the first to race, running the 3,300m distance for Winchester & District in the U13 girls’ event.

She went into second place early in the race but could not stay with Jersey’s Isla Hall, who took the win.

She pipped Isle of Wight Triathlon Club’s Katie Bunn to the silver medal by four seconds.

Patrick, whose primary sport is triathlon, was next up in the U15 boys’ race, over a slightly longer course.

But the result was the same, with Patrick safely home in second place.

Running for Southampton AC, Patrick earned silver on the 4,100m course after finishing just 20 seconds behind Jersey’s Isaac Thompson, with Winchester & District’s Will Atkins in third.

The siblings are now preparing for the National Cross Country Championships in London next month.
