Steve Moss of New Forest Runners completes marathon milestone
AFTER completing all six major world marathons, New Forest Runners’ coach Steve Moss received his Six Star Medal from Abbott World Marathon Majors (WMM).
At the start of March, Moss completed the Tokyo Marathon in a time of 3.40.02, completing the set after previously finishing the Berlin, Boston, Chicago, London, and New York City marathons.
Starting his Six Star journey with his first marathon in London in 2012, Steve (65), completed all six well inside four hours, including two inside three-and-a-half hours.
He follows in the footsteps of fellow club member Judith Jackson, who received her Six Star Medal in September 2023.
Jackson completed her final four major marathons – Chicago, Tokyo, Boston and Berlin – in just under a year in 2023.
After achieving a personal best at the Boston Marathon in April 2023 she has been invited to compete in the Age Group World Championships at the Sydney Marathon in September this year.
Moss commented: “I am delighted to have finally received my Six Star Medal, it’s been quite a journey. It’s not always easy to obtain a place in these big races, and a lot of training is needed before each marathon.
“Focusing on the Abbott World Marathon Majors has allowed my wife and I to have great holidays in parts of the world we might not otherwise have visited.
“I’d like to thank New Forest Runners members for their enthusiastic encouragement in the build-up to the race, and I hope this inspires some to start on their own marathon journeys.”
New Forest Runners’ chair, Jim Edgar, added: “We are all very proud of Steve’s Six Star achievement.
“Between his excellent coaching sessions for members and participation in local and international races wearing the New Forest Runners colours, he is a fantastic ambassador for the club.”
