Lymington Town FC has appointed their first-ever female chair in their 149-year history, as Rebecca Wildman takes the reins ahead of the new Wessex League season
As Lymington Town look ahead to the new season, the club are celebrating the appointment of their first-ever female chair in 149 years of history, as Rebecca Wildman takes the reins.
“Becoming the club’s first female chair is a tremendous honour and a reflection of how far women’s football has come,” said Wildman. “I’m incredibly grateful to everyone at Lymington Town for their support and belief in me.
“A heartfelt thank you goes to former chairman Alan Farrar for his outstanding dedication and service to the club over the years. Alan’s contributions have been invaluable, and while he steps back from his role, we’re pleased he will remain involved as a valued committee member. We wish him all the best in his well-earned retirement.”
Wildman is no stranger to Lymington Town FC, having spent three years leading the women’s team as a manager and served as the club secretary last year.
She added: “As we look ahead to the 2025/26 season, our focus remains on growing the club both on and off the pitch. That unity and progress are evident each week, with our men’s and ladies’ teams continuously supporting one another. We move forward as one club, with our senior and youth sections united in vision and ambition.
“Katya Christie, the club treasurer, who does absolutely everything to help the club, will continue her dedicated work with the club, having played a key role in its development. We are deeply thankful for her commitment and the positive impact she has made.”
Wildman concluded: “Our full support goes to first team manager Ash Buckland and assistant Chris Morris as they lead the squad into what we all hope will be a successful Wessex League campaign.”
