LYMINGTON did their neighbours New Milton a favour in dispatching top-of-the-table East Cowes at the weekend and popping the Linnets at the summit.

It has been a topsy-turvy season so far for Lymington, but they’ve now lost only two of the past nine after starting the season with five consecutive defeats.

Alex Morris found the net twice, sandwiched by efforts from Ben Morris and Connor Lopez, while Charlie Hart and Scott Jones gave the Vics hope in the second half.

Lopez and Scott were unlucky with early shots, but Lymington didn’t have to wait long to open the scoring, Ben Morris in the 8th minute popping home from just in front after fine work by Alex Morris.

The islanders came back with a series of half chances before Lymington keeper Charlie Fry saved well twice from Scott Jones.

Attempts also came and went for Alex Morris before the half-time whistle.

Lymington were on it from the start of the second 45, and after three minutes Lopez sent a screamer past Vics keeper Alex Ram to make it 2-0.

East Cowes pulled one back through Charlie Hart, who nodded past Fry from a corner on 66 minutes.

The two-goal advantage was restored shortly later, as Alex Morris slammed home after Connor Lopez had done all the work.

But East Cowes weren’t done and, with two minutes remaining on the clock, Jones gave the Vics hope of saving a point.

However, Lymington hadn’t finished either and, with East Cowes forging forward for the equaliser, Alex Morris put a lid on proceedings with a rocket into the corner past Ram.
