AFC Totton made more headway in their push to reach the National League South with a 5-0 shellacking of Tiverton Town.

The Stags made a blistering start with Ethan Taylor’s left-footed strike saved by Zak Baker, but the goalkeeper could only parry the ball as far as Tony Lee, Johnny-on-the-spot to fire the rebound home.

Tivvy were presented with a golden opportunity to level the scores from the penalty spot but Joshua Gould produced a fantastic save to his right.

Totton made Tiverton pay within a couple of minutes. Taylor again found a pocket of space on the right and delivered a perfect ball onto the head of Lee, who made no mistake from close range.

To compile more misery on the Devon outfit, they were soon down to 10, River Allen sent off for a wild tackle on Lee.

The Stags built on this in the second half as Joan Luque’s deflected effort wormed through a sea of bodies to put Totton three to the good.

Lee then completed a perfect hat-trick with his left foot, rolling a square pass into an open net, after more fantastic creativity from Taylor.

The favour was returned three minutes later, after Lee unselfishly squared for Taylor to pass into an empty goal, completing the rout.

The Stags remain in fourth with a game in hand over Gosport Borough and Salisbury; a win would see them leapfrog both.
