Lymington Veterans and AFC Pennington play Boxing Day match in Jamie ‘Jim’ Clark’s memory
LYMINGTON Veterans and AFC Pennington gathered on Boxing Day to play a charity football game in memory of Jamie Clark, who played for both teams.
Clark, known as Jim, died in March last year at the age of 49, leaving behind 14-year-old daughter Molly and his 16-year-old son Joe, who played in the game, starting for AFC Pennington and finishing the game in his dad’s shirt for Lymington Veterans.
There was a fantastic turnout to support the 10am kick-off, and the family were said to have been overwhelmed by the support and love shown to them.
Clark passed away a month after the diagnosis of a rare cancer – bile duct cancer known as Metastatic cholangiocarcinoma. Oakhaven supported him and the family in his last few days.
The children are being supported by child bereavement support charity Simon Says, and Molly picked the charity to benefit from the Boxing Day game in the hope that they can help other families who unfortunately face the loss of a parent or someone important in their lives.
The family thanked Will Kitcher and Gavin Furnell for organising the event and the Pennington Sports & Social Club team for hosting the game, which raised £2,010 for Simon Says.
