New Forest Golf Club’s John Ireland and Roy Nelson won the second monthly medal of the year

Brilliant sunshine with a stiff, chilling breeze welcomed the 44 New Forest Golf Club Seniors playing in this, the second monthly medal of the year.

Countback calculations were required to decide second to fourth in Division Two, but there was no doubting the winner. John Ireland came in comfortably three strokes ahead of the field.

In Division One, Roy Nelson also finished well ahead to win with nett 70 – an excellent score in what were quite tough conditions.

Results – Division One: 1, Roy Nelson, nett 70; 2, Steve Lupton, nett 72; 3, Phil Walker, nett 73. Division Two: 1, John Ireland, nett 71; 2, Dave Barrett, nett 74 (back-nine= 38); 3, Wayne Niles, nett 74 (back-nine= 39).
