Daniel Haworth led the men and Abbie Pearse the women at the latest Brockenhurst parkrun




Exactly 100 people ran, jogged and walked the Brockenhurst parkrun course in warm and sunny conditions, with Daniel Haworth leading the men and Abbie Pearse the women.

The first finisher across the line was Matlock AC’s M30 Haworth, who led the field home for the second time with a time of 16:40. Haworth has run just 11 parkruns since 2017 and has been first finisher at 10 of those runs with an impressive personal best (PB) of 14:56.

The second runner across the line was M45 Adam Jundi, who set the highest age grade score in 17:15, while Daniel Parker-Hales came home next in 18:11.

Another multiple first finisher led the ladies home for the fifth time as W30 Pearse of the GB age group duathlon squad ran 18:16 for a new Brockenhurst PB while setting the highest female age grade score. It was her 10th Brockenhurst run, and her father, Paul Pearse, the run director on the today, was on hand to congratulate her.

W35 Alice Rudd (19:28) of Hardley Runners was this week’s volunteer coordinator for her 60th volunteer occasion. She was also the second female home a week after setting a new marathon PB of 3:17:54 at the London Marathon last Sunday.

For a third time, M11 Travis Vanjara led the juniors home with a time of 19:37, crossing the line as the seventh overall finisher. Rounding out the top 10 and finishing as the second junior was Joshua Allnut (20:27), with Ned Grant (21:17) as the third-placed junior.

W11 Izzy Irvine was the first junior female.

Top of the most parkruns table was fifth-time visitor M60 James Fuller, who has run 297 of his 511 parkruns in Poole since 2012. He set a new Brockenhurst PB of 23:23.

The organisers thanked the 18 volunteers who made the 524th event possible. They were Camilla and Paul Pearse, Maxine Slade, Charles Fox, Alice Rudd, Peter Lay, Katrin Pritchard, Michael McCabe, Sarah Wilson, Mike Smith, Jo and Bea Murphy, Alison Moores, Jean Wright, Victoria Miller, Lucy Chanter, Matthew Dathan, and Mick Anglim.
