Lymington Town fully deserved to win against eighth-placed Laverstock & Ford, earning the side only their second league win of the season.

The Bulldogs came into the match having not played for two weeks, but they were second-best throughout, and goals from Jesse Rabin, Toby Colmer, and Nick Magee earned the three points.

The vital three points lift their tally to eight points, just seven points away from leapfrogging United Services Portsmouth and local rivals Hythe & Dibden.

The Bulldogs made a bright start, with excellent wing play leading to an early chance. However, keeper Chris Raven raced across his goalmouth well to produce a superb close-range save.

Lymington created chances, but none stuck until Rabin curled a delightful free-kick around the wall from the edge of the 18-yard box to open the scoring.

After the break, the tackles started flying in, with both sides lucky to avoid going in the referee’s notebook before Toby Colmer made it 2-0.

Nick Magee then made it 3-0 to the hosts, sparking fist-pumping celebrations from manager Adam Colmer on the touchline before Charlie Burden tucked home a late consolation.
