Keyhaven Yacht Club holds Regatta Week

KEYHAVEN Yacht Club held a successful Regatta Week over six days combining all its sailing sections.

Twickenham Yacht Club came down on their annual trip with a number of their members enjoying the freedom of sailing on open waters.

The Pirates Day was as ever popular with the juniors, and a pirate ship was anchored off the club pontoon – the highlight was commodore Andy Ash-Vie walking the plank.

The weather throughout gave the race management team plenty of headaches with varying wind conditions and speeds which resulted in completing all the week's racing apart from one race.

The structure of the week was based on handicap racing with gold and silver fleets combining with a youth fleet racing every day in the Solent. On three days there was separate racing for the juniors and the Get Sailing Group.

First race, sponsored by Hurst Marine, was the gold fleet, won by Roddy Steel in a Finn, followed by Ian Sanderson in a Blaze, and Rob Langley in Laser 1 third.
