Match report: Christchurch seal biggest Wessex League Premier Division victory in over three years with 6-0 drubbing of Baffins Milton Rovers
Christchurch were ruthless against an out-of-form Baffins Milton Rover, winning 6-0 to pick up their biggest victory for over three years at Hurn Bridge on Saturday.
Christchurch made it two wins on the bounce to move well clear of the relegation zone, winning by a six-goal margin for the first time since a 6-0 win over Amesbury Town at the start of September 2021.
Addwell Chipangura fired three goals in the win, becoming the second Christchurch player to register a hat-trick in the last two games, while Joe Freak – last week’s three-goal hero – and Drew Eccott-Young scored the others.
Although Baffins have lost three games in a row, they still sit in seventh place, just six points from a promotion play-off place. However, in the immediate aftermath of the six-goal drubbing, Baffins Milton Rovers confirmed that first-team manager Danny Thompson had stepped down.
Christchurch started the game well, but the opening goal did not come until the 31st minute, with the in-form Joe Freak nodding an excellent header home.
Eccott-Young added the second four minutes later after showing excellent dribbling skills before Chipangura made it 3-0.
After the restart, Church were clinical, with Freak adding his second before Chipangura rounded off the win with two further strikes that flew beyond experienced keeper Roux Hardcastle.
Christchurch will travel for their next league match, taking on Millbrook on Saturday at 3pm.
