Brockenhurst bowlers’ big Oakhaven donation

DURING the summer 2024 bowling season, Brockenhurst Bowling Club held several events in aid of their president’s nominated charity, Oakhaven Hospice Trust in Lymington.

The fundraising included raffles on both president’s day, a themed Mad Hatters Charity Tea Party, and a Care for a Cuppa fun bowls drive at the end of the bowling season with prizes donated by local businesses and hotels.

Although a small local lawn bowling club, club members have succeeded in raising over £2,500 for The Oakhaven Trust.

At the club’s presentation evening dinner last week, club president Lyn Godden presented the cheque to Oakhaven Trust representative Hannah Davies, who explained how the donation would enable the charity to continue supporting people with end-of-life care and helping their loved ones cope after a loss.

Davies said that although the amount raised may seem like a drop in the ocean when considering how much it costs to run the trust annually, every donation was vitally important, no matter the size.
