BASHLEY (Rydal) signed off in style, putting in their most dominant batting display of the season to beat Basingstoke & North Hants by 88 runs.

Jacob Gordon and Jack Stearman hit unbeaten centuries as Bashley (Rydal) enjoyed a 286-run fest at the Fagan Field, formerly known as Bashley Cricket Ground, writes Mike Vimpany.

After winning the toss and electing to bat first, opener Saif Achakzai lasted just six balls before Abhijeet Saranath (1-54) had him LBW after scoring 14 runs.

After a stumping, William Tripcony (32) was next to go, but Stearman and Gordon had everything under control.

Gordon’s 103 took his season’s league tally to 639, while Steadman’s 109 was his first hundred in Bashley colours and his first since August 2022 for South Wilts against Havant.

Bashley, who finished second to champions Hampshire Academy, saw Basingstoke respond with 198, with James Trodd taking 4-23 and Michael Porter 3-50.
