BASHLEY returned to winning ways with a relatively comfortable 3-1 win over local rivals Blackfield & Langley at Gang Warily.

After a goalless first-half, Bashley pulled into a three-goal lead thanks to strikes from Harry Bunce, Adam Grange and Bue Bennett before Harvey-Joe Bertrand scored an added-time consolation for the hosts.

Bashley manager Paul Morris adjusted his line-up with Harry Bunce playing up front and newly re-signed Jamie Webber. The experienced Ross Casey also played his first match since signing from Lymington.

Despite a lack of goals, the first half had plenty of excitement, with keeper Casey striding purposely to the halfway line and lofting a high pass to Bunce which almost resulted in a goal.

With 55 minutes played, Lewis Ross sent a glorious cross into an over-populated penalty area. Rising majestically, Bunce nonchalantly headed in the opening goal.

Grange then collected a midfield pass and charged into the area before finishing with a net-bulging shot. His first goal for the club sparked jubilant celebrations from his delighted teammates.

After putting in an impressive shift and earning a breather, Bunce made way for River Smith while Ben Atiako-Hall, who had impressed with his footwork, came off for Bue Bennett.

As the visitors reorganised, the Watersiders came back into the game, and it required a superhuman effort by Casey to preserve the deadlock with a superb fingertip save after a goalmouth mêlée.

Webber, now released from his defending position, showed speed and determination playing alongside Bennett. His ball control and lay-off allowed Bennett an effort at goal, which the free-scoring youngster converted with aplomb.

Bashley began to manage the game, but with effectively the match's last kick in the second minute of added time, Bertrand scored, despite what many in attendance thought was a handball.
