BASHLEY took three massive points ending AFC Portchester's 11-game unbeaten run with a hard-fought 2-1 away win.
Adam Grange put Bashley in the lead before the hosts levelled through Rafa Ramos, who has an uncanny knack for scoring against the visitors. Finally, however, Jamie Webber decided the match, scoring with eight minutes left.
Bashley pressed from the start, and with 25 minutes played, the pressure paid off when Harry Bunce was brought down in the box.
To the surprise of the Bashley contingent, Lewis Ross blemished his penalty credentials when home keeper Steven Mowthorpe correctly guessed his intentions with a fine diving save.
Minutes later, Grange latched on to a loose ball before finding the corner of the net with a well-controlled shot from just inside the area for his fourth goal in three games.
The lead did not last long as Bashley's bête noire Ramos made it five goals in three games against the visitors this season – four of them came for Blackfield & Langley, including a hat-trick to knock Bashley out of the Hampshire Senior Cup.
The Royals had chances to take the lead, but they never looked like beating keeper Ross Casey's aerial dominance and quick reactions.
The winning goal came in the 82nd minute when an on-rushing Webber struck a hard low shot into the corner after a poor clearance from the Royals defence.
A last-minute foul by Bunce brought an aggressive reaction from Zak Sharp, who received a red card for physically expressing himself, appearing to slap the Bashley man.
