Norwich AC’s Henry Ashton shines on Brockenhurst parkrun return while Southampton AC's Ellie Monks leads the women, with Paul Loveridge of New Forest Runners shining
After a mild and misty start to the weekend, Brockenhurst parkrun welcomed 155 runners, joggers and walkers to the Wilverley Inclosure course on Saturday morning.
Returning to the course for the first time since May, JM15-17 Henry Ashton of City of Norwich AC was first over the line in 17:59, adding a second Brockenhurst win to his name. It was Ashton’s fifth run at the venue, and his first since setting a PB of 17:23 earlier in the year.
Finishing just behind and leading the women’s field was VW40-44 Ellie Marie Monks of Southampton AC, who clocked a strong 18:25. She also topped the overall age grading on the day.
Young talent shone again, with JM11-14 Callum Pearson of Bournemouth AC crossing in 19:22 to take third place overall and finish as the second junior male.
There were a host of solid performances among the top 10, including VM65-69 Paul Loveridge of New Forest Runners, who posted 21:33 to claim one of the highest age grades of the day.
The event was made possible by 15 volunteers, who ensured everything ran smoothly: Camilla Pearse, Paul Pearse, Richard Foxwell, Harriet Dathan, Mike Smith, Sarah Wilson, Jackie Ferrier, Peter Wilson, Rosemarie Osborn, Gavin Duckett, Mick Anglim, Mike Jurd, Steve Wilks, Emma Rowlands, and Stephen Sutch.
