AFC TOTTON lost ground on league leaders Frome Town after conceding a late equaliser away to Evesham United in a three-all draw.

The two sides shared a see-saw contest, as the Stags battled back from an early opener to lead the game twice before Evesham drew level with the honours ultimately shared.

The Stags started slowly, with the home side taking a very early lead through the dangerous Brandon Smalley, who scored three minutes in after taking one touch and slotting it past Amad Skrzyniarz in the Stags goal.

Totton steadied the ship just after the half-hour mark when Ben Jefford scored a spectacular long-range shot from the edge of the box that beat a rooted Lewis Clayton.

Totton took a deserved lead when the lively Ethan Taylor rounded the keeper before shooting into the net from a wide-angle six minutes after the restart.

The lead only lasted six minutes when Jordan Staten headed in the equaliser in a busy box after a point-blank save from Skrzyniarz.

With 20 minutes left, Taylor scored his second goal after heading in an excellent cross from Jack Hoey to put Totton 3-2 up.

Several chances came the way of Evesham United, Callum Ebanks saw his shot tipped over the bar, and Symons' shot brushed the post.

In the dying seconds, an unmarked Michael Symons received the ball to the right of the box before striking a well-placed shot past the advancing keeper to snatch a late draw.
