AFC Totton pulled off a stunning upset to reach the first round proper, battling for over 80 minutes with ten men before winning a penalty shootout away at Truro.

The Stags started brightly and should have taken the lead when Declan Rose found Tony Lee at the back post, only for the striker to lift his effort over the bar.

Lee made no mistake moments later, showing strength to hold off Will Dean before calmly finishing for his 11th of the season in the 14th minute.

Jimmy Ball’s side were in control until added time at the end of the first half, when Joe Oastler saw red for a second bookable offence.

It became a siege after the break, and Truro eventually levelled in the 60th minute through Lirak Hasani from a corner.

The Stags defended heroically, with makeshift centre-back Scott Rendell and Tyler Cordner keeping the hosts at bay during added time.

The shootout saw Rendell, Jay Emmanuel-Thomas, Josh Dolling, Craig Tanner and Cordner all convert. Truro’s Christian Oxlade-Chamberlain – the little brother of England international Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain –fired over, and the Stags were through to set up a mouthwatering tie with Macclesfield.

Bashley ended their eight-game home goal drought in style, smashing seven past a spirited Fordingbridge Turks in a lively Southampton Senior Cup tie.

With a half-strength side, Bash took time to settle, but the opener came on 21 minutes as Scott Bungay headed in from a Lewis Ross corner.

Two minutes later, Yousseff Yayhoaui slammed in the rebound from James Martin’s effort to double the lead.

Bungay made it three after following up a saved shot, then converted a penalty after being brought down to complete his hat-trick and make it 4-0 before Sam Howe pulled one back with a fine finish for the visitors before the break.

The second half saw Bungay bag his fourth, before Kaden Hughes and fan-favourite Muhammed Basiru added goals. Luke Smith netted a fine late header to make it 7-2, capping a great night for both sides in front of a vocal crowd.

Bashley will host AFC Shirley in round three.

Brockenhurst returned to the Isle of Wight in style, exorcising August’s FA Vase penalty pain with a dominant Wessex League Premier Division win over East Cowes Victoria.

Missing regulars and without a recognised centre-half, the makeshift side turned in a top all-round performance.

Dylan Walker opened the scoring on 15 minutes, reacting quickest after Freddie Beale’s strike was parried. Mitchell Speechley-Price hit the bar, then doubled the lead from the spot after Beale was brought down.

Toby Colmer sealed the win late on, heading home from a corner, as the midfield duo of Toby Bailey and Luke Holmes controlled the game superbly.

Totton & Eling claimed a dramatic 92nd-minute winner to edge Clanfield in the Wessex League Division One at Millers Park.

The hosts struck first in the 35th minute through Gideon Nebechukwu, who rose highest to nod in a firm header.

Clanfield hit back in the 77th minute through Jordan Rayment, and the game looked destined for a draw – until Woodcock fired home deep into stoppage time to snatch a vital three points.

Blackfield & Langley exited the Hampshire Senior Cup after a nail-biting penalty shootout loss to Romsey Town.

Mark Sampson gave the Watersiders an 18th-minute lead, converting a low finish after a pinpoint cross from Daniel Reynolds.

Romsey pushed after the break and levelled late on through a scrambled goal at the back post with just three minutes left.

Keeper Sam White made two superb saves to take the tie to spot-kicks, but after 13 successful pens, one miss proved decisive.

Hamble Club moved into the Velocity Wessex League Cup third round with a 3-1 win, though Fawley gave them a scare.

The Oilers had the chance to lead inside three minutes from the penalty spot, but Henry Newman produced a brilliant double save to deny them.

Hamble took full advantage, opening the scoring through James Johnson, who nodded in after a long throw caused havoc.

Jack Roberts equalised early in the second half after capitalising on a defensive error. But Hamble soon regained the lead through Braydon Douglas, and after missing a second penalty, sealed the win as Brad Johnson headed home from a corner.

Ringwood Town’s Russell Cotes Cup run ended at Millbrook, with first-half goals from Ryan Batley and Scott Hills settling the tie.

Despite a determined second-half display, Ringwood couldn’t break through and bowed out of the competition.
