Bashley moved back into the playoff picture with two late goals despite finishing with 10 players in front of 356 fans at The Veho Community Stadium.

Didcot missed a host of chances in the second half as Bashley came from behind to secure three points in the game’s final ten minutes.

The match was still level in the 40th minute when Bash captain Stephen Walker saw red for a high tackle on Zach Scott, and Didcot took the lead through Jenson Wright six minutes after the restart.

All looked lost as the match entered the 82nd minute, but Luke Delaney equalised before Scott Bungay snatched the late winner.

Didcot started well, and on-loan Bashley keeper Mack Allan had to be at his alert best to repel efforts from Josh McConnell and Zach Scott.

However, it was not all one-way traffic, with visiting keeper Leigh Bedwell making two good saves while Luke Carnell was well-placed to nod a clearance off the line.

The momentum swung in Didcot’s favour as half-time approached when referee Calum McFarlane showed Walker a straight red.

With 51 minutes played, Wright’s long-range shot found a way past the Bashley keeper, putting the hosts on the back foot.

Didcot were in complete control, and they should have finished at least one of the many chances that came their way, but excellent saves and defending, plus poor decision-making, kept the lead at one goal.

With eight minutes left, Bashley made them pay for not taking their chances when Delaney’s low shot flew into the corner of the net.

Four minutes later, Bashley won the game with a superb strike from the edge of the area from substitute Bungay that fizzed past the beaten keeper.

Didcot tried in vain to find an equaliser in the remaining minutes, but it was not to be, and the large Bashley crowd went home happy.

Bashley plays host again on Tuesday when welcoming Melksham Town at 7.45pm before travelling to face Cribbs on Saturday at 3pm.
