A WOMAN has been charged with drink-driving after a car caught fire in Lymington late last night.

The vehicle was ablaze on the A337 Southampton Road at about 2.20am this morning (Friday), said Hampshire Fire and Rescue Service.

Holly O’Conner (24), of Edward Crescent in Wareham, was arrested and has been charged with driving over the legal alcohol limit, police told the A&T.

The town’s crew tackled the incident, arriving to find the car’s engine “well alight”, according to a tweet by the fire team. No other vehicles were involved.

Firefighters used two sets of breathing apparatus to deal with the emergency and a single air foam jet to put out the flames.

O’Connor is due to appear at Southampton Magistrates’ Court on 8th October.
