DOUBLES from Steve Flynn and Tim Stephenson sealed a 4-3 thrilling win for mid-table Lymington Town against second placed Horndean at the Sports Ground on Saturday.

Young Henry Newman started in goal for Lymington, replacing the injured Nick Jones, and within three minutes he was picking the ball out of the net following a Jack Maloney direct free-kick.

Lymington were soon level when Mike Gosney’s corner kick was converted by Steve Flynn.

Then 12 minutes prior to the interval the visitors were in front again with Sam Hookey curling a shot into the top corner.

Once again Lymington quickly pulled level with Gosney’s free-kick finished by Flynn’s header.

There was still time left in the first half for the home side to go in front for the first time when Gosney’s corner was headed in by skipper Stephenson.

Early in the second half Horndean’s Ryan Chandler took advantage of poor Lymington defending to level the scores for the third time.

Lymington’s constant pressure in the latter stages was rewarded when yet another corner kick by magician Gosney allowed man of the match Stephenson to seal a fine win with his second headed goal of the afternoon.

Lymington Town: Newman, Davies, Manuel, Fuller, Ansell, Stephenson, Finch, Cross, Flynn, Ross, Gosney. Subs: Jarvis, Hennen.
