HAMPSHIRE Cricket has announced that promising youngster Scott Currie has signed a rookie contract extension.

Poole-raised all-rounder Currie, who plays for Bashley Cricket Club, put pen-to-paper on the new deal which will keep him in the county fold until at least the end of 2021.

Currie made his Hampshire debut in the club’s 2020 Vitality Blast campaign, while also going on to feature in the inaugural Bob Willis Trophy, where he claimed three wickets on his debut against Kent.

He also became the latest Hampshire youth player to go on to represent England’s under-19 side last winter, having impressed as part of the triumphant Hampshire Second XI Championship side in 2019.

The news came with the announcement that two other prospects, Ajeet Dale and Tom Scriven, have also signed extensions.

Hampshire director of cricket, Giles White, said: “Scott, Ajeet and Tom are three really exciting prospects for the future and they’ve all shown their potential this summer.

“This extension of their rookie contracts will aid their development, allowing them to continue their hard work over the next 12 months.”
