A MAN is due in court charged with assaulting police officers as they responded to a reported breach of Covid-19 restrictions in Fordingbridge.


Two officers were allegedly attacked while dispersing a group of people in the town around 6pm on Saturday.

Charged with two counts of assaulting emergency workers, Lee Wells (38), of no fixed abode, has been bailed to reappear at Southampton Magistrates’ Court on Thursday 10th December.

A Hampshire police spokesperson said: “A man has been charged with assaulting officers in Fordingbridge who were on patrol and investigating a breach of national restrictions.

“The charges come after two officers were assaulted who had sought to disperse a group breaching the national restrictions at around 6pm on Saturday 7th November.”
