A CHRISTCHURCH version of Monopoly is to be released next month featuring the Priory, Red House Museum and Mudeford Quay.

Maker Winning Moves UK, which is licensed by Hasbro, has announced that the town is the latest to feature in its line-up of the popular board game.

Taking the spot of the Angel Islington is the Red House Museum and Gardens, although the makers of the game are keeping secret what other landmarks are included.

But red hot favourite to take the place of Old Kent Road – the cheapest place on a traditional London Monopoly board – is Christchurch Castle.

In the running for taking the most expensive spot, the equivalent of Mayfair, are the Priory and Mudeford Quay.

People have been voting on the town landmarks they would like to see featured on the Christchurch board which is due to be released at the end of March.

Afolabi Omotola, custom games executive at Winning Moves UK said Christchurch Castle will certainly feature, adding: “Very well done to both the Museum and Old Town Hall.

“The museum will feature on the very trendy Angel Islington square from the game’s classic London original.

“Funnily enough when the London Monopoly was originally mapped out Angel Islington was placed in a very moderate section of the board, in terms of pricing and ranking. But now, as everyone knows, Islington’s cachet is sky-high.

“This unique new and official version of the world’s most famous board game features the great and good of Christchurch.

“We have been wonderfully spoilt for choice putting the game together and would like to thank everyone who sent in suggestions last year when we went through a public consultation process.”

The Christchurch version of Monopoly will have seaside themed game pieces including an ice-cream cone and an umbrella - so out will go the traditional Scottie dog, top hat and boot.

A Bournemouth & Poole edition was released in January 2007. The board will be on sale at major retailers.
