Letters: Council Tax spending on wrong path in New Forest

I was shocked but not surprised to see the rise in council tax in the latest bill.

I had to laugh, though, when I saw the amount of people working in the New Milton recreation field. It seems that the councils were rushing to get this year’s budget spent on, what I have always termed as, vanity projects.

There are so many footpaths around New Milton and Barton that need attention, yet we're fixing paths that aren't that bad. Councils can't point at footpaths and say how good they are, as they are supposed to be!

However, spending cash on these kind of projects gives the impression the whole town is as well kept. Also, tarmacking has taken place near a toilet block that has two toilets working out of a block of 10, and recently had none working.
