Letter: Mum and baby parking space for entitled customer in New Milton
I’m beginning to question the meaning of a word we see and hear and use so much these days – “entitlement”.
The dictionary definition is “the fact of having a right to something”. While out shopping in New Milton and parked in one of the designated parking spaces at a local store, a very posh and gleaming, top-of-the-range sports car pulled in to park in a mother-and-baby space.
Out jumped a very attractive, well-dressed, agile young lady who collected her bags and proceeded towards the entrance to the store. However, when asked where her child was to justify taking up such a space, the instant reply was “at home” as she quickly entered the door.
Entitlement? Justifiable? Or simply interpretation of the word today?
