Letter: Leave the paddleboarders alone and stop the “wild” camping.
Paddleboard charges (A&T 26th May)? How is it that the council can manage to put up a huge sign to announce charges at New Lane/Salt Grass in Milford, yet it finds it impossible to make any restrictions to the hundreds of caravans and camper vans who choose to stay overnight – for sometimes weeks at a time – for no charge?
There is a Facebook page encouraging all to come – people now come from Europe! Apart from anything else all these vehicles create traffic problems.
Perhaps the council would consider allowing us residents to live here free of council tax – and provide us with free water.
Leave the paddleboarders alone and stop the “wild” camping.

SIR – Your correspondent Mr. Basham (A&T 02/06/23) wants local MPs to surrender their seats to a younger generation untainted by past failure, that being the disaster called Brexit, as I understand.
UKIP’s leader emeritus attributes the disaster to “Brexit done wrong” but any plan to do so-called Brexit right will be the lost cause to which Kier Starmer has hitched his party’s wagon. It has parallels with Mikhail Gorbachev’s Perestroika, ie half-baked ideas to attain hitherto-unmet objectives by means that would not deviate from the doctrine of a secular religion taking believers to a promised land.
Anyone who imagines that a younger generation of MPs would be suitably untainted should consider why and how the Conservative and Unionist Party became a UKIP tribute act.
Also, parliamentary candidates are selected by guardians of the faith, constituency associations the power of which, though subliminal, is immense. They decide the choices voters can have.
Meanwhile, what is the prospect of any Europhilic Tory would-be candidate anywhere surviving interrogation by his party’s thought police?
H Fletcher
