Letter: Foxlease so much more than a beautiful building
Thank you for putting a picture of Foxlease on your front page (A&T 26th May), but as your letter from Christine Scott so rightly says, it is so much more than a beautiful building and 65 acres.
It holds strongly the spirit of Guiding, the history, the heritage. Importantly the enormous fun, confidence and respect Foxlease has given and still gives to so many girls, leaders and families.
Memories of incredible Guide camps are vivid. Our own children and grandchildren have enjoyed the archery, zip wire, swimming pool and lake in addition to camping and singing around campfires.
Foxlease is there for everyone, not just guiding folk. Covid has meant that for two years children have been deprived of much time in the outdoors, mixing with others, enjoying activities. Foxlease gives them a chance to regain lost time and opportunities.
Have those people looking at the balance sheet really understood what Foxlease has given and can still give to your children and grandchildren? I think not. Foxlease MUST remain.
