Christchurch woman Bernadette Wheelan given jail sentence after thefts from Asda in Frome and Boots in Weymouth




A shoplifter who stole goods worth more than £200 has been jailed for 16 weeks.

Bernadette Wheelan (49), of Everest Road, Christchurch, admitted stealing meat from Asda in Frome on 20th March and items from Boots in Weymouth on 10th August last year.

Appearing at Poole Magistrates’ Court she pleaded guilty to two counts of theft, failing to surrender to police/court bail on 22nd November 2023 and assaulting two people at Asda in Poole on 13th July last year.

The Bench ruled custody was the only option for Wheelan’s “serious” crimes.
