A WOMAN from Hythe has been charged with the murder of a baby whose body was found in woodland last year.

Silipa Keresi (37), from Pylewell Road, Hythe, will appear at Southampton Magistrates’ Court this morning (Monday).

She had previously been arrested in early March 2020 following the discovery of the dead infant boy among trees off Shore Road. Police said the youngster had been recently born.

Keresi was initially allowed to go on bail last year then later released under investigation while enquiries continued.

But Hampshire police said in a statement this morning that detectives had arrested her again at the weekend and, following advice from the Crown Prosecution Service, charged her with murder.

As reported in the A&T, police made appeals for information at the time, as part of the Operation Verse investigation. The site of the discovery was near a gravel layby next to the train gates in Shore Road.
