Three Covid-19 deaths in BCP and New Forest areas




THERE were three Covid-19 deaths in hospitals reported this week in the New Forest and BCP Council areas.

One was in the Forest and two in the BCP conurbation, which includes Christchurch, according to the Office for National Statistics.

The provisional fatality figures related to Covid-19 being mentioned on the death certificate up to 13th August but registered up to 21st August.

Separate government figures showed new weekly coronavirus cases in the New Forest today (Tuesday) rose from 443 last week to 484, giving a rate per 100,000 of 269.4.

The BCP area experienced a fall, from 1,739 to 1,633. Its rate was 411.3, compared to 334.4 for the UK.

Second-dose vaccinations in the New Forest rose to 83.7% of adults (129,060) and in BCP to 71.3% (253,485).

In England the second-dose vaccination rate rose 70.2%.
