Met Office issues yellow weather warning for heavy rain across part of the New Forest

A WEATHER warning for heavy rain has been issued for part of the New Forest tomorrow (Saturday).

The Met Office alert runs from 6am until 1pm, with flooding likely.

It says around 15mm to 30mm of rain could fall widely across south-east England, with up to 70mm in some areas.

The warning states: “Spells of rain, heavy at times, developing early Saturday will persist for several hours before clearing away eastwards during the late morning or early afternoon.”

As a result, spray and flooding on roads could make journey times longer and bus and train services could be affected.

The organisation is warning of a “small” chance of flooding to homes and businesses, as well as some interruption to power supplies and other services.

The warning comes in the wake of Storm Lilian, which brought strong winds and heavy rain to northern England, Wales and parts of Scotland early this morning.

Affected areas saw winds of up to 75mph, flooding and power cuts alongside travel disruption to trains and flights from Heathrow cancelled.
